The Chittagong Hill Tracts Commission recommended effective and immediate steps for proper trial of incidents of clashes of different sections of people of hill region. 

A press conference held at VIP lounge of National Press Club in Dhaka on Saturday, 17th January 2015 title on “Violence in Rangamati and Human Rights situation in Chittagong Hill Tracts”, International Chittagong Hill Tracts Commission (ICHTC) Co-chairperson Advocate Sultana Kamal placed 8- points recommendation to the government for a long-term peace in the region. She also added, in last five years, at least 10 communal attacks had done to the indigenous people of CHT and at least 34 incidents occurred to violence against indigenous women in 2014.

The recommendations of the CHTC include implementation of unimplemented fundamental parts of the CHT Accord for restitution of peace in the hill regions, conducting a neutral and effective investigation expeditiously of the clashes of different sections of people of the hill region, withdrawal of the cases filed against hill people and an initiative for deployment of a combined police force of hill and Bangalee members and creation of the village defense force for the sake of maintenance law and order situation in the CHT region.

Members of the ICHTC Swapan Adnan, Barrister Sarah Hossain and Dr Iftekharuzzaman also spoke at the press conference. The leaders of commission expressed deep concern for the situation in the Chittagong Hill Tracts.
